Beginnings are hard.
A blinking cursor on a fresh blank page can be intimidating for even seasoned writers.
1. Why this, why now
Why am I launching this space? What brought me here and what inspired me to do it now?
I am inspired by the many great journalists that have come before me, and I aspire to help people make better decisions with an eye on improving the world. I plan to do this as a Photo/Video Investigative Journalist and Media Technician.
2. What kind of community are you looking to build here
I am not just starting a newsletter when I start a Substack; I am starting a community. I am inviting people to subscribe to my thinking and hopefully inspire others to think.
What kind of space will this be?
This will a be a space for reporting on the peace process, what we can do to further it, who is working towards it, and occasionally who is working against it.
Peace not only in the sense of war and peace, rather it will also involve peace within communities, with an eye towards covering topics of religion, family, and community.
Our community will be one were we work towards making the world a better place, or have the interest to one day work towards making the world a better place.
The articles hear will be factual, and rarely, if ever, opinion pieces.
3. Be specific
Readers love clarity. I will try to be clear when I explain what they should expect.
How often will I be posting?
The current goal will be to publish three articles, and based on feedback revise and reevaluate where and how often to go from that point.
Can they expect certain posts on specific days?
To be determined.
What will the free subscribers get?
Currently a paid subscription is not being offered.
4. Use an image and “subscribe” buttons
Based on Substacks recommendation:
Images help to spread the word when you or I share the post on social media and it will give color to my archive as I try and build it.
“Subscribe” buttons make it easy for new readers to subscribe to this newsletter with one click. You can subscribe below with that button:
